Hemsedal has been voted Norway's best ski resort several times. The beautiful and snow-reliable Hemsedal offers everything from affordable children's packages to first-class fun parks and cross-country ski trails on all routes and slopes in all colors for the whole family. Accommodation and ferry crossing are included in the price.

Skiing in Hemsedal

Hemsedal is the largest ski resort in southern Norway. Known as one of the country’s most renowned ski destinations, it offers a wide variety of slopes, great leisure activities, and modern, comfortable facilities.

  • Hemsedal Ski Center

The ski center Hemsedal is one of the absolute top ski areas in Norway and has one of the largest alpine facilities in Scandinavia. Here you and your family will find everything your heart desires. From the wild black trails that make even the most experienced pros work up a sweat, to safe children's areas where everything is thought of for the little ones.

Hemsedal Ski Center also offers snow guarantee. So there are absolutely optimal possibilities in every respect to enjoy the area to the fullest.

  • Hemsedal for children

The huge children's area in Hemsedal is a paradise for little winter sports fans. Multicolored descents, fun slalom runs, small jumps and rails, toboggan runs and a snow play park. Everything is designed so that the little ones can join in - and the parents feel good about it.

  • Cross-country skiing

In Hemsedal you will find 140 km of groomed cross-country trails in both the valley and forest areas and 110 km of marked – and somewhat more challenging – trails in the high mountains. And these are wonderful tours! On your way through the beautiful, snow-covered landscape, there is also the opportunity to get something to eat. And if you feel like it, you can try a survival trip - with overnight stays in snow caves!

  • Skiing from dawn till dusk

If you haven’t tried it yet, treat yourself to off-peak skiing during your Hemsedal holiday. From February to April, you can hit the slopes early between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m.—a unique experience on freshly groomed runs before the crowds arrive.

You can also enjoy evening skiing on illuminated slopes Tuesday to Friday from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m., offering a special atmosphere with fewer people and a completely different light.

  • Off-piste

If you love off-piste skiing, Hemsedal offers fantastic opportunities for freeriding on untouched mountain slopes and through forest terrain. Known among enthusiasts for its exceptional off-piste areas, Hemsedal features dense forests, steep slopes, and dramatic gorges—definitely not for everyone! But don’t worry, there are also easier options, all conveniently close to the main slopes.

  • Snowparks and Skicrossarena

Hemsedal Ski Center is also known for its snow parks. Here you’ll find a fun slope with bumps, jumps, and banked turns for all ages and skill levels. The Red and Blue parks feature jumps, rails, and boxes for freestyle enthusiasts. There’s also a ski cross arena with parallel slalom, speed tests, an ice rink, and a large airbag for safely practicing jumps and tricks. A ski holiday in Hemsedal truly offers something for everyone—and more!

Hemsedal – More than just skiing

Hemsedal offers plenty of winter fun beyond skiing. Try dog sledding through peaceful winter landscapes, join a guided snowmobile trip, or race down long sledding hills that are just as thrilling for adults as for kids.

Dog Sledding

There’s nothing quite like gliding across the snow with a team of friendly huskies in front of your sled. Here, you’ll find peace and time to enjoy Hemsedal’s beautiful winter landscape—far from crowds and noise, and fully immersed in nature. You don’t need any previous experience to try it, and both children and adults can take part, making it a great activity if you’re visiting Hemsedal as a family. If you’ve never been dog sledding before, give it a try—you won’t regret it.

On a Snowmobile Across the Snow

In Hemsedal, there are more ways to speed across the snow than just dog sledding and skiing. You can also try driving a snowmobile. You must be 16 years old, but once that’s in place, you can join a guided mini‑safari or ride on the dedicated track. The experience lasts about half an hour and takes place in beautiful surroundings.

Sledding

And you might be thinking this is only for the little ones—but that’s where you’d be wrong. The sledding hills in Hemsedal are nothing like the small, modest ones we know from Denmark. They are long—some almost 5 km!—and you can get serious speed. In fact, some runs are more or less “off‑limits” for children, at least for those under 10. But if you are a smaller adventurer who loves sledding, there are also great options for you during your ski holiday in Hemsedal.
